Down, But Not Out.......I Broke my Ankle!!

My splint that I was fixed up with before I got my boot (thank God, no cast!)

Some of you may already know from Facebook, but for those of you that don't.....I fell down!
Yup, I fell down in a handicapped parking space the day after Glitterfest. I didn't know the art business could be so rough, ha ha.
Anyway, to make a long story short, when I got home I went to the emergency room and after x-rays they pronounced it "not broken". So, a week whet by and still swelling etc. etc so.....I went back and low and behold, it's broken after all!! I have to say this last two weeks....well I have a new appreciation and gratitude that I am able to walk! We take so much for granted.....
By the way, I had a pretty good shiner but it has cleared up now.
I am also sorry to say that, I took my camera to Glitterfest, but.....I forgot to put the card in it, so no pictures! I still may try to confiscate a few from some of my fellow artists....we'll see.

Here's the Pics!

Here's my table at Halloween & Vine a bit hard to see. I'm sorry my pictures didn't turn out that well, but you get the idea. It was a fun and a fast paced show to say the least!

Another view of some of my work. I had allot of fun with the addition of Paper Mache pieces to my collection!

This is Scott Smith of Rucus Studio. He does incredible work of pure perfection. Every piece is awesome! Scott along with his partners Christy Silacci and Ginny Betourne put on Halloween and Vine. They were gracious and welcoming hosts! My thanks to all of them!

Jorge De Rojas....what can I say? Just an incredible and gifted artist. His pieces are so creative and whimsical. He has a great sense of humor and he is....the Ho Ho Holiday King!

Paris to the Moon! If you haven't been to this shop in Costa Mesa you need to make it a point to when ever you are in the area! It is pure eye candy. Their work (Darren Calkins and his sister Danyel Montecinos) and table display is just a sampling of what you will find at this incredible shop!

Laurie Hardin of Monkey-Cats Studio. Her work is pure Halloween. So fun and whimsical, she puts her own twist on vintage inspirations from the past. Her work is wonderful and perfectly executed. Each piece...perfect!

Gabrielle Acevedo....the most fun Halloween Jewelry anywhere! e-mail her at cattitude@surewest.com
Mythica Masks by Monique Aldabe. These are just pure fun. So beautiful. Her work is enchanting. Check out her website and gallery at www.mythicamasks.com

Vergie Lightfoot. Wonderful, Wonderful Pieces! Incredibly creative. Here sculptures take you in and mesmerize!
The most fun and incredible work by Arbutus Hunter. Just fun original folk art. I love every piece. She and her husband are also very nice people. Fun to be around and to have as fellow exhibitors!
Nancy Aldabe of Nancy's Metal Art. Really fun metal sculptures for Halloween decorating. The best I've seen anywhere!
Here's Scott again. He is opening the show in this pic, but I thought he could be also saying goodbuy until next year. Hope to see you there!

Here is an additional list of the other participants of the show this year and my apologies to all of them. Some of them were missed in the photo taking and some of them their pics just did not turn out!

Spur Cross Cowboy Church

Spur Cross Church, originally uploaded by Susie Scott Studios.

My Church waiting for me to show up!! I feel so bad. I chose to stay home today and work on art. Halloween art, for my upcoming shows.
I am so sorry to say....... that I got scared about my rapidly approaching deadlines!! I bought in to that nasty little voice!!!

View of work in progress

what can I say.....other than work in progress. Except that my studio looks like a complete mess. If I was going to be completely honest though.....and I am. It is usually a mess! I can dream of a beautiful clean studio though, can't I??

Birthdays!!

Well.....it's my birthday! I'm really not sure how I feel about it. So far not thrilled. Seems like it comes a little sooner every year! Just sort of creeps up on me! Yeah, that's it....creeeepy! It's creepy that I am getting so old. It does not, and I repeat, does not seem right!

It's my husband's Birthday too! Or it was his birthday, two days ago, on the 28th. I made him this card from an old clipping I found in a box and the funny(or sad) thing is, that this birthday ran along the same lines for him. Long story... with an employee that has done some pretty bad stuff that we have to deal with....anyway, In the midst of all of this we will still laugh and find something good. God has a way of turning our Lemons into the best Lemonade!!

(oh, just a note....Don did get his bicycle back)

Glitterfest 2009!

This was the cutest Sign (made by Sheryl from www.vintagewhimzy.com)
welcoming everyone to www.glitterfest.com

Before the show, hanging decorations at the entrance

A shot of me(on the left) at my booth. I have to admit I was a bit "frazzled" but of course, now, I am a
seasoned veteran! ha ha

Sheryl and Diane had all the nooks and crannies decorated. This was just a small shot of the entry to the show. (Most of my pictures didn't turn out very good) This doesn't really capture it that well, but trust me, it was glittery, sparkly and welcoming....

A couple of new shadow boxes I had done for the show.

Another shot of some pieces I had on display

This is a montage of some great stuff by Christine Rose Elle www.dollybelleatelier.com
and dollybellespeepshow.typepad.com

since most of my photos didn't turn out well I just made another little collage of some more wonderful creations.

A photo of myself and Jenny Doh, Editor-In-Chief and Director of Publishing of Somerset Studio magazine

Jana Holstein, also from Somerset. She is the editor of Somerset Digital Studio ( I think one of my little cuties is giving her a big smile!

Jana and some other shoppers at my table
Sheryl and Diane (the Glitter Gals themselves) Our gracious hostesses for the event. They did a fantastic job!

Bridgette Antonelli......what a cutie.....just an original cute. You can check out her work at www.bellalunaarts.etsy.com and at bellalunaarts.blogspot.com

I wish I could have gotton pictures of everyone to post here. As I said most of my pictures didn't come out well.

Glitterfest 2009 Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peak of new pieces I am working on for Glitterfest. If you live or are going to be in the area be sure and come by. This will be one sparkly and glittery event. Don't miss it.
It's being held at the Knights of Pythias Auditorium in Old Town Tustin, California, May 16th. Hours are 9 am. til 2pm.
PS. If you have never been to old town Tustin you will love it. It is quaint and evokes an old bygone era right in the middle of Orange County.
