Local Press!

I'm excited. One or our local newspapers, The Sierra Booster did a little write up about me and my shop. It's nice getting some press.
What has really been nice though, are the people that remember us from when we were living here 20 years ago.
I don't know if you can tell by the article but at that time we had a great Hot Dog place called Weenie World! I also has a tiny little shop then as well. It was a little country store called Zona Rose named after Don's mom Zona and my mom, Rose.
Anyway. I keep saying I will tell you all about it and I will. It's just that it's a long story or rather it's a legend. The Legend of Weenie World.............
That will be for another time.....when I have a little more time.

Anyway he is cute and I have to admit.....He is a personal favorite. I will miss him.............. Good thing is I have allot more designs in my head just waiting to get out!

Oh Yeah.....I Remember!

Now I know I'm back in California! Last night at around 11:30 I had a nice jolt to remind me
that we are indeed back... There was a rumbling and a rolling and a rattling of glasses and the first thing I thought of is....Oooops, need to get prepared. I couldn't find my shoes or a flashlight or a radio etc. etc. Glad it was short lived but it did make me realize that we need to get some emergency things together..... it is easy to get comfortable until something.....happens. Apparently we have been having allot of little quakes around our area. Hope they stay that way....LITTLE!!

From The Ashes .....

Like the mythological Phoenix bird....We have risen from the ashes, so to speak.
I apologize to all of you. I know I am not good (not good at all) at keeping you all informed along my journey. I have a very hard time while I am in the midst of everything to sit down and keep you in on the day to day. Plus, I really do get into a mode where I just want to hide and lick my wounds for awhile.
It hurt allot to close my shop in Prescott. I felt like we were just barely starting to get off the ground, but it's a long story and there really wasn't any other choice.
So it's been about 5 months now.....5 hectic months! We have made a big move back to a place we were 20 years ago (That could be a whole other blog entry- which I will try to do soon) and because of the kindness of a dear friend of ours, I now have a new shop and studio space.
It has not been easy..... it's been a lot of work. Allot of sweat and tears and emotional ups and downs but I am very, very thankful and grateful!! Being innkeepers at our friend's Bed and Breakfast was also thrown into the mix this summer. Besides being interesting we met some very nice people from all over the country. I also learned that while being fun and interesting a Bed and Breakfast is work. So all of you that have romantic notions of opening a B & B when you retire.....think about it. A gentleman told me earlier today that being retired means that you're RE-TIRED, meaning that you are more tired than ever. I thought that was a good one.
Anyway, I'm going to sign off for now. I'm back and in BUSINESS so forgive me and keep checking back. I do appreciate it so much.
Hugs,
Susie
PS Ooooops! I forgot to tell you where we were at. I'm in Portola, California which is 45 min NW of Reno, Nevada-1 hour N of Truckee California. In Plumas county which is in the beautiful High Sierras.

Happy Mother's Day Mom!!

A day late! Pretty typical with me, but I couldn't find these pics yesterday. However, it did give me more time to think of my Mom than just one day I guess. I think about her allot really. She is always around with me though, and pops out at me at unusual times, in a thousand little ways.... So I wish her Happy Mother's Day yesterday, today and always ......

Inspiration

Sometimes I use photos of my Mom in my artwork.
I think she was so beautiful. She is no longer physically
with me but is always with me in spirit.
She always wore Red lipstick and even though I never
consciously planned it, I think that's why most of my
characters have red lips. I think some even have her
smile..............

Nice Surprise!

Wow, one of my sweet customers called me yesterday and told me my work was in the new
Somerset Life magazine. I was a bit skeptical since I hadn't known about it. But.....after I closed the shop I went directly to Barnes and Nobel- and low and behold....there it was!!! It was included in the wonderful piece about Glitterfest, which by the way, is coming up soon on March 19. I am very excited as always, to be able to participate in this fantastic, feast-for-the-eyes, event!
Yummy, Yummy, Eye Candy from start to finish......Can't wait to see my fellow Glitterfest Gals again!!
